So what Now?
My Vertical dance apparatus , firmly located in the garage, became a daily fix. Now days now the newness has worn off I hop on whenever I get the chance, which is about every second or third day.
The dilemma with this kind of practice is that the spins and poses that one learns in a course can become quite easy quickly. Half the fun of doing Pole is that it pushes you in terms of physicality and psychology. When you’re hanging upside down a metre above the floor by only the skin between your legs, there is a little bit of fear to overcome there!
So to keep my interest up, I subscribed the the Vertical Dance online lessons. These were great- clear instruction in small bite-sized pieces to keep me going. Now the only trouble was my poor hubby having to respond to the loud “Darling come have a look at this Quick!” or the occasionally squeal followed by an expletive when something shouldn’t have happened.
With about three months of time to kill, this was where I got to with the aid of the classes, my Pole Buddy (Girlfriend), and my hubby to spot me on the odd occasion.
It was on the Vertical Dance site I came across the forum associated with this particular company. This has been an invaluable resource for me. Prior to finding this website, I could not get upside down at all! It is now not a fulfilling practice session without doing it at least once. The people on this forum are incredibly helpful answering questions about shoes, clothes, moves, excercise and fitness along with being a place to showcase your videos. A supportive network I was also impressed to see a significant Aussie presence, active on the forum. For anyone getting their own pole, I highly recommend these guys.
Now all I had to do was wait for intermediate to start and begin showing off my new found skills….
